Bitcentral, Cell Journalist and AP Team Up to Enable Powerful Workflows

(Newport Beach, CA July 2, 2012) Bitcentral announced today an innovative partnership that enables never before possible video production workflows for managing user-generated and citizen journalist video. Via a Cell Journalist video enabled wire feed into AP ENPS, journalists are now able discover and select from thousands of unique selections all from within the familiar AP ENPS interface.

Bitcentral’s news production suite can now seamlessly download, acquire and reformat user-generated video for simplified editing and playout. The workflow is powered by Bitcentral’s MediaNow module announced at NAB 2012. MediaNow leverages industry standard MOS Redirection for content movement as well as Bitcentral developed news tailored content transcoding and formatting for immediate editing or playout. The end-to-end solution can include Bitcentral Create, a browser-based editor that provides anyone, in any location, instant access to edit Cell Journalist and other video sources.

Bitcentral’s news production suite tightly integrates with key ecosystem partners like Cell Journalist and AP ENPS to empower new and streamlined workflows.

“We are thrilled with this partnership because of the value it brings to our mutual customers. Managing the ever growing number of video sources, especially UGC, is a huge challenge. This content is extremely valuable and a differentiator for local news and now producers can easily get their hands on the right video,” said Rick Young, VP of Product Strategy at Bitcentral.

Cell Journalist is a comprehensive platform that allows users of mobile devices to upload, view, and share videos with a news station in seconds.

“Bitcentral and AP ENPS share our vision of providing the best content within the most streamlined workflows. This integration will help stations win the big story by providing real time access to content submitted by audience and staff alike,” said Parker Polidor, president of Cell Journalist.
AP ENPS is the world’s most popular broadcast news production system.

“News users demand simple and intuitive workflow. In close collaboration with mutual customers, our three companies have simplified the discovery and use of UGC content to a single drag and drop operation in ENPS. Tight integration of ENPS, Bitcentral and Cell Journalist completely hides the complex series of user interfaces, manual file copies and transcode operations required by other systems. We are pleased to collaborate with these market-leading companies who share our commitment to delivery of the customer’s vision said Mike Palmer, Director of Design and Integration Strategy for AP ENPS.
