NBC Affiliate WESH-TV in Orlando Breaks New Ground by Integrating the Country’s Leading Newsroom Workflow and Editing Solutions

NEWPORT BEACH, CA – MARCH 24, 2010 – Bitcentral which is helping TV broadcasters transform the way they gather and share news, announced today that the Orlando NBC affiliate, WESH Ch. 2, has installed Bitcentral’s Precis and for the first time integrated with Adobe® video solutions as well as AP’s ENPS news production system, to deliver unsurpassed broadcast workflow to improve newsroom operations.

The Precis solution is non-proprietary, so station management has the flexibility to choose among other world class technology brands, such as Adobe’s cross-platform software solution for video and post-production including Adobe Premiere® Pro, to create its best broadcast news production platform.

“Technology and newsroom standards are changing so fast, we wanted to make sure that we future-proofed and integrated the best-of-breed solutions together,” said Joe Addalia, Directory of Technology for Hearst Television. “Budgets are tight, so we have to utilize solutions that will meet the simultaneous productions needs for broadcast, website, mobile and whatever other platform our viewers next adopt.”

Hearst Television Inc. is one of the nation’s largest station owners, with 29 television and two radio stations. It reaches 18% of U.S. television households. In addition to WESH, the broadcast group will install Precis in eight more stations in this year. Two stations will also install Bitcentral’s industry leading content archiving and management solution, Oasis.

“Stations are investing in more efficient, future proof technologies that work well with everything from new HD cameras to legacy editors and playback technology. Precis provides the flexibility to work with the broadcast infrastructure of today and tomorrow,” said Fred Fourcher, CEO of Bitcentral, Inc.

The Precis workflow solution virtually breaks down newsroom walls, extending content creation out into the field by broadcast journalists. It enables editing on any authorized computer in the newsroom’s network, allowing the production professionals to build more robust story packages, and get to air faster, than other workflow solutions. It is non-proprietary, so stations can pick the hardware that works best for their individualized markets, easing the transition from tape-based workflows to IP file-based production systems.
