Top Broadcasters in New York, Florida and Nebraska Activate Bitcentral Workflows and Storage Solutions

NEWPORT BEACH, CA – MAY 5, 2010 – Bitcentral, dedicated to transforming the way TV news is gathered and shared, announced today that three more client broadcast stations have gone live this spring with its browser-based newsroom workflow, launches achieved in less than one week’s time. The go-lives continue the string of new business wins following the record-setting 2010 sales year for the company.

The latest newsrooms to upgrade are affiliates of NBC, ABC and Fox networks:

  •  WGRZ-TV, the NBC affiliate in Buffalo, NY. The Gannett station is the latest in its station group to upgrade its news room with Bitcentral’s Precis™ workflow solution along with the Oasis™ content archiving and storage solution. WGRZ has earned a reputation for “watchdog journalism.” Bitcentral will enable rapid content creation and collaboration within the largest staff of broadcast journalists in the market.
  • WFTX-TV, the Fox affiliate in Ft. Myers, FL. The Journal Broadcast Co. has activated both Bitcentral’s Precis and Oasis. These products will update production processes and improve communications between the main newsroom and a bureau in nearby Naples.
  • KETV-TV, the ABC affiliate in Omaha, NE. The Hearst Broadcasting station is one of the few ABC affiliates to broadcast in 1080i high-definition rather than 720p. As of April 1, the newsroom is now equipped with Precis.

Precis delivers a fully integrated, end-to-end, open architecture that eliminates dozens of costly, time consuming steps from ingest to playout. The Precis workflow solution virtually breaks down newsroom walls, extending content creation out into the field by broadcast journalists. This allows production professionals to get to air faster than with other workflow solutions.  When Precis is paired with Oasis, Bitcentral’s archiving and storage solution, field journalists can build their story packages from the breadth of content stored at the station. Oasis also enables collaboration, whether it is within newsroom teams or among stations in groups.

“We’re very proud of the hard work demonstrated by our engineering professionals who are responsible for three stations going live in such quick succession with our products,” commented Alex Keighley, vice president, sales at Bitcentral. “The ever- expanding family of Bitcentral stations has made us the most popular news production company in America. We thank all of our customers for the trust they have shown us and we will continue to work hard to be worthy of it.”
