Bitcentral Inc., a provider of efficient media workflows in the U.S. and Latin America, has appointed Gregory Mason its new president. He will also be joining Bitcentral’s board of directors. He succeeds Camille Jayne, Bitcentral’s president since March 2017, who will retire on June 30.
Mason’s career has spanned a variety of digital arenas including media, marketplaces, and SaaS. He joins Bitcentral with two decades of experience in executive leadership roles, including most recently as president-founder of GAM Consulting. Prior to that, Mason was CEO and director at Purch Inc., digital publishing and marketplace platform positioned at the intersection of content, commerce and services. Under his leadership the company grew revenue from $25 million to over $125 million, followed by a successful sale to Future plc.
Mason was selected following a five-month search. Jayne, part of the search committee, will stay on for a short transition through June 30 before retiring, after more than 19 years with Bitcentral as board director and the last three and a half years as president.
Bitcentral Founder-CEO Fred Fourcher said: “Greg Mason will be a great leader, partner and complement to me and our management team, and I know he will fit extremely well within the culture and values of our company. The board and I agree that his experience in all aspects of the digital video ecosystem, coupled with his management and M&A experience, are just what we need to catapult Bitcentral and FUEL — our digital streaming platform — to even greater success.”
Prior to Purch, Mason oversaw WebMD as EVP, and spent more than 10 years in an array of divisional GM-SVP roles at CBS Interactive and CNET Networks (acquired by CBS Corp.). This period culminated in Mason’s leadership of CBSi’s largest and most profitable unit and brand portfolio which included CNET, ZDNET, TechRepublic, CBSNews.com, BNET, CBSMoneywatch and CNET Content Solutions.
He started his career in Technology Publishing with Ziff-Davis and International Data Group.
Mason received an MBA from the University of San Francisco, and a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Nevada.
